The Chatham Athletic Foundation Grant Program

Through the Chatham Athletic Foundation Grant Program (CAF-GP), CAF plans to award grants to organizations that are exempt from taxation under section 501 (c) 3 including local schools and other nonprofit organizations that promote or enhance youth athletics. The CAF-GP is intended to support single or multipurpose athletic projects in Chatham Borough and/or Chatham Township that fit our purpose and mission. If the project requires approval from the Borough Council, Township Committee, Board of Education, Recreation Department, etc., such approval must be provided with the application. The grants will pay for the costs of the project including, but not limited to, equipment, supplies, construction, labor, etc.

All grant requests submitted must include clearly defined objectives, direct benefits to athletics in the Chathams and a cost-effective budget.

Higher consideration will be given to projects that positively affect multiple sports and provide evidence that the project addresses a significant need.

The Chatham Athletic Foundation has awarded the following grants to date: LUM Field Restoration, Concussion Awareness Testing, Mountainview Multisports Room, Chatham Wrestling Club, Coaches Skills/Safety Training, and Women’s Softball. 

For 2008, The Chatham Athletic Foundation has ear-marked $25,000 to the Committee for Athletic Field Lights in collaboration with the Chatham High School Athletic Boosters.  The grant is pending the outcome of the Cougar Field Lighting Project. The grant will benefit all Chatham sports organizations by increasing field usage.
